About the project
The project Literacy Practices in Working Life was funded by The Swedish Research Council for three years. From March 3, 2003 the project was based at The Department of Humanities
at Örebro University. Project work was also carried out at The Department of Scandinavian Languages at
Stockholm University and at The Swedish Language Council.
The aim of the project was to describe the writing and reading practices during a working day in a number of common occupations in Sweden today. Case studies were carried out in the health care sector,
as well as in construction and trade. Both observation and text analysis were be used.
Project members were Per Ledin (project leader), Olle Josephson and Anna-Malin Karlsson, all at the Department of Scandinavian Languages at Stockholm University
at the time for the start of the project.
